In Hungary as of 16 April, 2020 the state funding at the time of reduced working hours due to the emergency situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic may also be requested, and you can avail yourself to it on changed, alleviated terms as of 29 April, 2020. When can you request for funding?
The supreme condition of being granted the fund is the employer and the employee should make an agreement
- at least for the duration of funding
- on a part-time job reaching at least a quarter of the working time prior to the declaration of the emergency (minimum 4 hours per day) but maximum up to 85 % part-time job, furthermore
- if the reduced working time exceeds half of the previous working hours (the rate of reduction is less than 50 % ) on individual development time.
Who can request for funding?
By ex-post accounting at the joint request of the employer and the employee the fund will be disbursed.
How much funding can be requested for and for how long?
The amount of funding shall be determined from the net salary (but maximum HUF 214.130) (cost driver) calculated in line with the general rules from the monthly basic wage (but maximum HUF 322.000) prior to the promulgation of the emergency. The amount of the funding is 70 % or maximum HUF 74.945 monthly of the lost wages and salary calculated from the cost driver. The funding may be requested for 3 months after the submission of the request. The total amount of the funding in three months may be maximum HUF 224.835, which is exempt from tax and contribution both for the employer and the employee.
What conditions shall be met?
The funding may be granted only if several conditions are satisfied, for instance the reduction of working time and the emergency situation have to be interrelated.
